Efficient Electric Heating Systems

A lot has happened since resistive electric heating systems were installed in the ’80′s. Heat Pump technology, which uses electricity to move heat has advanced to the point where it can take heat out of air that’s -17 degrees. They do this in the same way your refrigerator moves heat out of it and into the kitchen; with refrigeration technology. As houses become better insulated and tighter, efficient electric heat in the form of air source heat pumps is becoming an excellent option for heating your home.

Using Air Source Heat Pumps is like buying oil for $1.50 per gallon. Air source heat pumps use one unit of electricity to move 3 units of heat which means they are about 300% efficient while resistive electric heating systems are only 100% efficient.

We design systems in one of two ways; to supplement your existing heat source or to be the only heating system in the house. As it gets colder outside, heat pumps produce less heat, making them hard to design as a stand alone system without adding insulation to the building. As supplemental heat to a home that already has a primary heating system, they are easy and affordable to add.

The Benefits of Electric Heat are:

  • Affordable
  • Super Efficient
  • Convenient
  • Quiet
  • Comfortable
  • Low cost air-conditioning in the summer months
