Portland Green Drinks: Portland Flea-For-All

img_0228This month, Portland Greendrinks is exploring the wonderful world of the Portland Flea-for-All where you can find anything from vintage clothing or one of kind furniture to handmade jewelry and everything in between. Come mingle with the shop keepers and learn about this little secret sweet spot for finding one of kind treasures.

Sponsored by Eastern Mountain Sports, the event beneficiary will be the Appalachian Mountain Club.  So whether you’re idea of exploring involves hiking, biking, paddling or antique shopping – come to this event to get the info and gear you need while connecting with two local businesses and Portland Greendrink’s featured nonprofit.

Portland Greendrinks is part of the international Greendrinks network — an informal, volunteer-managed social networking group built around a common interest in the natural environment. It occurs on the second Tuesday of every month, starting at 5:30 pm. It’s time to explore the wonderful world of the MDM where you can explore the world’s trade winds, create hydro power, pretend you’re a paleontologist, dig for dinosaurs, explore a giant heart, floss over-sized teeth or watch the kiddos explore the human anatomy.

Bangor Green Drinks: KahBang Arts

Greening Initiatives & Partnerships presentation for the KahBang Music|Art|Film Festival this August 2012, including Wasted @ KahBang- part of the Creative Recycling Project, in which Twenty-five artists will be selected to design recycling bins. Five artists will win KahBang festival passes while the other 20 artists will win prizes provided by the program sponsor. All bins will be located & Labeledon Festival Grounds to keep our waterfront beautiful and our festival creative. One high school will receive all five bins for their own recycling project at the culmination of the KahBang Festival.

Join KBA for an evening of the arts and community!

Heating with Wood; Is this the Future of the Heating Market?

NH Residents Feel the Pinch of Rising Fuel Prices, Home Heating Prices to Hit Record High in Northeast. These are just a couple of recent news articles, though it doesn’t much feel like news anymore. Home and business owners face the challenge of finding more efficient ways to provide heat in the cold winter months, or be susceptible to increasing energy prices. Pat Coon of ReVision Heat has been helping Mainers take control of their energy destiny for the past decade. He will present on the myriad of heating options that are on the market today and which application makes sense based on estimated or calculated heat loads. Pat will also show you a working pellet boiler and speak to why he feels passionate this is the main stream solution for the future of New Englanders.

Presenters:

Pat Coon, managing partner of reVision heat will be speaking at the event held at ReVision Energy’s Brentwood location. Coon is a master electrician, and has designed and installed some of Maine’s most advanced renewable energy systems, including the Bright Built Barn and York County Shelter.

About Green Eggs and How To Register:

Green Eggs is the Chapter’s monthly breakfast forum featuring a speaker and topic relevant to green buildings. Networking and breakfast, featuring a full breakfast – local and creative, will take place from 7:30 – 8:00 followed by a 45 minute presentation and a 15 minute question, answer & discussion period. Attendance is limited and pre-registration with payment is recommended. Attendance is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
